Reflections: 

It has been two weeks since I came back from University of Virginia. It feels like we are still together! My attending “The 2014 Virginia STARTALK Chinese Teacher Academy” is a wonderful memory in my teaching life. It was three weeks of intensive training and I found it to be an excellent Chinese teaching professional development course! I have learned so much from Prof. Tseng Miao-Feng as a teacher and a facilitator on how to use authentic materials with 100% target language through the communicative instructional strategies in each Chinese class. She is dedicated and devoted to her profession with caring, loving and sharing. I have also learned a lot from two master teachers, Mrs. Zhong Liangyin and Mrs. Xu Yaching. With their rich experience, they helped us learn how to use teaching techniques to reach a successful Chinese class. I have also learned a lot from our wonderful and talented peer teachers. Through teaching practicum in this program, I have more confidence in my opportunities teaching during my next school year. During these three weeks, we were helping each other and cheering for each other and that made us really feel like a big family. Hiking to a mountain, touring at Monticello and seeing Thomas Jefferson’s Garden, dining out together, shopping in the mall, and singing K-la OK made it a fun way to have this great learning experience together. We really love each other as a family (相亲相爱一家人) ! “The 2013 Virginia STARTALK Chinese Teacher Academy” has exceeded my expectations, and I will absolutely recommend this great program to other teachers. Thank you very much for Prof. Tseng and all teachers! Thank you very much for Dr.Wu, Miss Ida, Miss Regan, and Mr. Jimmy who have dedicated so much time and effort to making this program successful!
