Reminiscence: 

Teaching has always been my passion. I love watching my students grow, and I enjoy the relationships I have with my students. I taught physics and science education in Taiwan for many years. After I came to the US, I had the opportunity to begin teaching Chinese, and it really opened my eyes to see how students progress from knowing nothing to being able to speak and write in a foreign language. It is challenging work, but is full of fun. However, the longer I teach, the more I feel that I lack the fundamental knowledge of the philosophy and pedalogy of foreign language education. This is the first time I have attended a Startalk Program, and I am so happy to be part of this great team. Although the program was very intensive, I learned a lot from Dr. Tseng and the other excellent teachers. VSCTA not only helped me to understand the theories of second language acquisition, but through practicum I was able to apply the theories to real-world teaching and identify the blind spots in my teaching.
